About Tom…

Tom D’Asto is a Mechanical Analyst in Civil and Commercial Programs of Swales Aerospace, an aerospace engineering firm and global leader in spaceflight applications and small satellite mission provider located in Beltsville, Maryland. Tom specializes in project management and has contributed to such high profile projects as the Hubble Space Telescope, F-16 fighter jets, and numerous Space Shuttle Small Payloads Projects.
Prior to joining Swales in 1995, Tom was employed as a Mechanical Systems Engineer at Interstel, Inc., a small, start-up engineering firm located in Beltsville, Maryland. Tom joined Allied Signal Aerospace in 1988 after beginning his career at General Motors Corporation, Flint, Michigan. |

Yes, Tom has the requisite degrees of a successful, focused adult: certification as a Professional Engineer built upon a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins; he has also been honored by membership in Pi Tau Sigma, a Mechanical Engineering Honorary Society. What this means to you as Howard County residents, is that Tom has the requisite aptitude to be the kind of leader you as citizens value.
Tom serves as Cub Master of his sons’ Cub Scout Pack. He volunteers as coach on the various sporting teams of his three children. In these capacities, Tom learned that he enjoys working with other people to help create a better community.
Tom resides in Clarksville, Maryland, with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Tony, Nick, and Gina, ages 11, 10, and 8. All 3 children are in our county public schools. Jennifer is a public school teacher & life long resident of Howard County.

Tom possesses a history of amazing ability to follow through on every endeavor he undertakes. As an example, he directed and constructed his family's own energy efficient home through meticulous design and planning, long hours of hard work and sheer perseverance; traits that he now brings to bear on issues concerning Howard County citizens.
The family moved to Clarksville from their first home in Fulton that was constructed on the site of the Cole Family Farm. Tom was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1966.
